Tangerine - Working Method

In Tangier, the gateway between Europe and the Islamic world, a Moroccan girl meets a young couple from Germany. A multi-layered love triangle develops, in which money, lies and prostitution become the adversaries of a real friendship or even love.

Often the locations in Tangier stood for themselves. You only had to change them for shooting or - as here - set up an abandoned apartment. More difficult was the preparation and shooting itself. Especially when the subjects were sensitive (officially, there is no prostitution in Morocco), it could get complicated. The different ways of dealing with contracts and agreements also had to be taken into account, for example, when facilities were borrowed, or public spaces were redesigned. The narrow, large street flea market "Kasabarata," which is heavily frequented by locals, became a treasure trove for haggling.
